About Us
Backyard Bookkeeper began a little over two years ago, when someone accused Julie of spending more time on QuickBooks than on FaceBook. It wasn't true, but it sounded like so much fun she and Alex decided to make a business out of it. Since then, Backyard Bookkeeper has grown to help clients in multiple states and all sorts of industries: construction, real estate rental and development, online retail, nonprofit, film, consulting, retail stores, and others.
Our goal is to reach out to small businesses everywhere and empower them with bookkeeping services and financial information about their own businesses. Whether you are a startup with a lot of questions, or behind on your books and don't know where to start, or an experienced business owner who just needs "a couple things done," we are here to help!
Our Team
Julie DeLong, Bookkeeping Joy (Link to resume)
Julie does most of the actual number crunching for the business and would rather play on Quickbooks than Facebook. She loves superhero movies, Rachmaninov, and chocolate, and her favorite book is a vampire novel titled Sunshine.
Alex Mic-Podar, Marketing Magic (Link to resume)
Alex has been working most of her life and has a knack for knowing what people need. She often gives Julie a "swift kick in the pants" to keep her in line. Alex loves Coke, Tom Cruise, and Mini Coopers, and won't eat anything she can see onions in.
Shantel Shearer, Bookkeeper (Link to resume)
Shantel's love of numbers fueled her desire to learn accounting. She has three awesome children who keep her on her toes, and with whom she shares a love of snowmen, Captain Jack Sparrow, and just having good, plain fun.
Kyle Robertson, Bookkeeper
Kyle is currently working on a Master's degree in accounting. Mispelled words and bad math are his pet peeves. He loves spending time with his two daughters, running, watching college football, and making lists.
Potzak, Entertainer/Office Tail-Wagger
Potzak, whose name means "tummy" in Hungarian, enjoys snuggling, playing in the grass, catching his tail, and chewing up tissue paper. He dislikes bookkeeping and would rather play with his toys.
