Backyard Bookkeeper (“we”, “us”) runs this website, backyardbookkeeper.com. This page explains what the website collects and why. It covers the website only, not the bookkeeping or payroll services you may hire us for, which are covered by your engagement with us.
The short version
- We don’t make you create an account to use this site.
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read.
- If you fill in a form or upload a file to us, we receive what you send so we can reply and help you.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. When you open a page, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information such as the page you viewed, the page that referred you, your browser and device type, and your IP address, which Google uses to estimate your general area (such as your city or country). We see only totals, such as how many people visited a page. To opt out, block cookies in your browser or use Google’s opt-out add-on. See how Google uses data when you use its partners’ sites.
Forms you send us
Our contact and quote forms ask for details such as your name, email address, phone number, business name and your message. We receive this when you submit a form and use it only to respond to you, prepare a quote, and provide the service you asked about. We don’t use it for advertising and we don’t sell it.
Files you upload
Some pages let you upload files (for example documents for a quote or onboarding). We receive the files you choose to upload and use them only to do the work you asked for. Please upload only what’s needed, and don’t send sensitive information you don’t want us to have.
Who else receives information
Google receives website-analytics information as described above. Our website host and the service providers that run our forms, file uploads and email handle information only to operate the site for us. We don’t sell personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and uploaded files for as long as needed to respond to you and provide the service, and then for a reasonable period for our records, after which we delete them. Google keeps analytics data as described in its own policy.
Your choices
- To stop Google Analytics, block cookies or use Google’s opt-out add-on.
- To ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, contact us.
Children
This site is for business owners and isn’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
If we change what this site collects, we’ll update this page and the date above.
